After reviewing the forecast we made direct contact with a Senior Marine Forecaster at the Wilmington NOAA-NWS office. He explained multiple forecast models have been very consistent looking out towards the week-end. He also relayed his expectation of a “Small Craft Advisory” being posted as early as Friday and extending through the week-end. With this forecast and professional consultation we have concluded the offshore conditions will not be safe for competitive fishing.
We recognize a few die hard anglers will say you can fish the beach just outside of Southport in a 20 Kt. NE wind in most any sea worthy vessel. Our Tournament rules cover this particular issue clearly. Competition will not take place in “Small Craft Advisory” conditions. We are making this call in advance of the official “SCA” announcement in order to give everyone time to adjust their personal schedules.
For those anglers who have registered early we thank you for your commitment to fish with us. If for any reason the re-schedule date will not work within your schedule please contact our office for 100% refund of all entry fees paid.
The original locations and hourly schedules of all planned tournament activities and competitions will remain the same with re-schedule dates of Friday and Saturday September 10-11, 2010.
Please check back for additional tournament details and information.
